Short answer: Yes, you can make a gang sheet in Canva: create a custom design 22 inches wide, place your designs with ¼″ gaps and download it as a PNG with a transparent background. The catch is Canva's maximum design size (8,000 × 3,125 px), which is too small for a long 22″ sheet at the 300 DPI DTF needs. For anything longer than a short sheet, export each design from Canva and lay them out in a gang sheet builder instead.

Canva is how many small brands make their designs, so it is natural to want to build the whole sheet there too. It works, as long as you know where Canva's limits are. This guide gives you a workflow that prints sharp, plus the shortcut most of our Canva customers end up using. It is part of our gang sheet series and applies to any DTF transfers built from Canva art.

Canva gang sheets at a glance

  • Canvas: custom size, 22 in wide.
  • Limit: 8,000 × 3,125 px max design size.
  • Export: PNG, transparent background (Canva Pro or higher).
  • Spacing: ¼″ between designs.
  • Longer sheets: export designs one by one and use the builder.
  • Never: add a background color or mirror the design.

Can you make a gang sheet in Canva?

Yes. Canva lets you set a custom canvas in inches, place designs, and download a PNG with a transparent background. Transparent PNG downloads are available on Canva Pro and other paid plans, which you need anyway for DTF: a white background would print as a white box.

What is Canva's size limit for gang sheets?

Canva's help center lists a maximum design size of 8,000 × 3,125 px. DTF needs 300 DPI at print size, so a 22″-wide sheet needs 6,600 px of width and 300 px for every inch of length. Long sheets are far beyond that limit.

Sheet Pixels needed at 300 DPI
22″ × 12″ 6,600 × 3,600
22″ × 24″ 6,600 × 7,200
22″ × 60″ 6,600 × 18,000

This is why long Canva gang sheets often come out blurry: the file is saved at a lower resolution than DTF needs. If you build a full sheet in Canva, keep it short (22″ × 12″) and check the downloaded file's pixel size. For anything longer, use the builder method below.

How do you make a gang sheet in Canva, step by step?

Six steps to make a DTF gang sheet in Canva: create a custom design 22 by 12 inches, remove backgrounds, place designs at print size with quarter inch gaps, keep the page background transparent, download PNG with transparent background, upload as a 12 inch gang sheet
Keep full Canva sheets short; check the download size.
  1. Create a design with custom size 22 × 12 in.
  2. Add your designs and remove any backgrounds (Background Remover is a Pro tool).
  3. Resize each design to its print size using the position panel, in inches.
  4. Space designs ¼″ apart and keep everything inside the page edges.
  5. Leave the page background empty (no white or colored fill).
  6. Download as PNG with "Transparent background" ticked, then order a 12″ sheet with Upload Gang Sheet.

How should you export from Canva?

Setting Use
File type PNG
Transparent background On
Size Largest the slider allows
Compress file Off
Pages The current page only

After downloading, check the file's pixel size: 6,600 px wide for a 22″ sheet at 300 DPI. If it is smaller, the print will be softer than your screen shows. Our team checks every file and emails you if the resolution is too low.

What is the easier way to use Canva designs?

Most of our Canva customers skip the size limit entirely: they design in Canva, download each design separately as a transparent PNG at its print size, then drop them into the gang sheet builder. Auto-fill packs them on a sheet of any length, up to 300″.

  1. In Canva, make each design its own page at the real print size (for example 10 × 11 in).
  2. Download all pages as transparent PNGs.
  3. Upload them to the builder, set quantities and click auto-fill.
  4. Check out. No 22″ layout work and no size limit.

Yes. Upload them to the gang sheet builder and use auto-fill.

Designed in Canva?
