Short answer: Glitter UV DTF is a UV DTF sticker made with a glitter or holographic layer, so the design sparkles and shifts in the light instead of showing a clear, smooth gloss. If you make tumblers, you have probably seen glitter UV DTF. This guide explains what the effect is, where it suits, how to care for it, and what you can do with our standard DTF transfers and UV DTF stickers instead.
Glitter UV DTF at a glance
- What it is: a peel-and-stick UV DTF sticker with a sparkle or holographic effect built into the film or finish.
- How it differs: standard UV DTF has a clear, raised gloss; glitter versions scatter light.
- Best for: tumblers, cups, phone cases and gift items where shine is the point.
- Weak spot: fine text and small details can get harder to read on a busy sparkle surface.
- Care: the same as any UV DTF. Hand wash, no dishwasher, no abrasive sponges.
- At BeeDTF: not offered at the moment. We print standard raised glossy UV DTF.

What is glitter UV DTF?
Glitter UV DTF is a variation of UV DTF where the finished sticker carries a glittery or holographic look. It is still a peel-and-stick transfer for hard surfaces, applied by hand with no heat press.
How the sparkle gets there depends on the supplier. Some use a film with glitter or a holographic pattern built in. Others add a special finish layer on top of the print. The result is the same idea: light hits the sticker and breaks into small flashes of color.
Everything else works like regular UV DTF. There is a design layer, an adhesive side and a clear top film that you peel off after you rub the sticker down. If you are new to the format, start with our guide on what UV DTF is and how it works.
How does glitter UV DTF compare to standard glossy UV DTF?
Glitter UV DTF trades sharpness for sparkle. Standard glossy UV DTF shows crisp detail with a smooth, raised shine.
| Feature | Standard glossy UV DTF | Glitter UV DTF |
|---|---|---|
| Look | Clear, raised gloss over full color | Sparkle or rainbow shift across the design |
| Fine detail | Small text and thin lines stay readable | Busy surface can make small details harder to read |
| Color accuracy | Colors read close to the file | Colors shift with the viewing angle and light |
| Photos and logos | Good fit | Logos with brand colors may look off |
| Application | Peel, place, rub, peel top film | Same steps |
| Care | Hand wash only | Hand wash only |
If you are also deciding between UV DTF and the heat-press kind for shirts, that is a separate question. Our comparison of DTF and UV DTF covers it.
Where does glitter UV DTF work best?
Glitter UV DTF works best on items where shine matters more than fine detail. Think gifts and personal items, not product labels.
- Tumblers and cups: names, monograms, simple icons, birthday or bridal designs.
- Phone cases: bold shapes and short words.
- Party favors: small cups, compacts, gift boxes.
- Kids' items: water bottles and pencil boxes with one big character or name.
It suits designs with big, solid shapes and thick letters. It is a weaker fit for small logos, barcodes, QR codes, fine script and photo prints, where the sparkle competes with the image. For tumbler sizing and wrap placement, see UV DTF transfers for tumblers.

What we do print is standard UV DTF: white base, full color and a raised glossy finish. It sticks to glass, tumblers, metal, plastic, sealed wood, phone cases and packaging. You can see every option in our UV DTF stickers and wraps collection.
How can you get a sparkle look with standard UV DTF?
You can fake a lot of sparkle in the artwork itself. The glossy raised finish then catches light on top of it.
- Use metallic-look colors: gold, silver, rose gold and copper gradients read as metal under a gloss. Print them as artwork, not as real metallic ink.
- Add highlights: small white star bursts or light streaks on the edges of letters suggest shine.
- Use a glitter texture image: a high-resolution glitter photo used as a fill inside letters looks convincing at arm's length.
- Keep contrast high: a dark outline around a glitter-texture fill keeps the shape readable.
- Size it right: texture fills need enough room. Small text loses the effect.
Build the file as a transparent PNG at 300 DPI at the real print size, in RGB. A glitter texture is a photo, so low-resolution textures look blurry fast. Our file guidelines page lists the rest of the checks, and a real person reviews every file before it prints.
Frequently asked questions about glitter UV DTF
Is glitter UV DTF waterproof?
UV DTF in general is waterproof and scratch-resistant in normal use. Glitter versions are cared for the same way: hand wash, no dishwasher, no long soaks.
Can I order glitter UV DTF from BeeDTF?
Not right now. We print standard UV DTF with a white base, full color and a raised glossy finish.
Does glitter UV DTF feel rough?
It depends on how the supplier makes it. Some glitter effects sit under a smooth film, others have more texture. Ask your supplier for a sample if feel matters.
Can I print a glitter look with standard UV DTF?
Yes. Use a high-resolution glitter texture or metallic-look gradients in your artwork. The raised gloss adds shine on top, though it won't sparkle like real glitter.
Is glitter UV DTF good for small text?
Usually not. Sparkle makes thin lines and small letters harder to read. Use bold, thick shapes for glitter designs.
Do you apply glitter UV DTF differently?
No. Clean the surface with rubbing alcohol, peel the backing, rub the sticker down firmly from the center out, then peel the top film slowly at a low angle.
