Can You Use DTF Transfers with a Cricut EasyPress?
EasyPress settings for DTF transfers, a 5-step method, print size limits and fixes when a transfer won't stick.
Short answer: Yes, DTF transfers work with a Cricut EasyPress. Set it to 275°F, press firmly with both hands for 7 seconds on a hard surface, peel hot and finish with a 5-second press under parchment. It works best for prints up to about 9″ wide; bigger prints need overlapping passes.
A handheld press gives the same heat as a heat press, but the pressure comes from you. This guide shows how to get enough pressure and avoid peeling. For the full settings by fabric, see our DTF heat press settings guide. BeeDTF prints DTF transfers and ships them across the United States.

Do DTF transfers work with a Cricut EasyPress?
DTF transfers work with a Cricut EasyPress because the adhesive only needs 275°F and firm pressure, and an EasyPress reaches well above that. The weak point is pressure: a handheld press relies on your arms, so you need a hard surface and both hands.
| Cricut EasyPress | Heat press | |
|---|---|---|
| Temperature | Reaches 275°F easily | Reaches 275°F easily |
| Pressure | From your arms | Set by the press |
| Best print size | Up to about 9″ wide | Up to the platen size |
| Speed | Slower for big prints | One press per print |
| Best for | A few shirts, small prints | Regular orders, full fronts |
What EasyPress settings do you use for DTF?
Use 275°F for 7 seconds with firm, two-handed pressure, then a 5-second finish press under parchment. These are the same settings as a heat press.
| Step | Setting |
|---|---|
| Pre-press | 5 s to remove moisture |
| Main press | 275°F, 7 s, firm pressure |
| Peel | Hot, right away |
| Finish press | 5 s under parchment or Teflon |
| First wash | After 24 hours |
How do you press DTF with an EasyPress, step by step?
You press DTF with an EasyPress in five steps: hard surface, firm press, overlapping passes for larger prints, hot peel and a finish press.
- Set up on a hard surface. Put an EasyPress mat or a folded towel on a sturdy table. Ironing boards flex and soak up pressure.
- Pre-press the shirt for 5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
- Place the transfer and cover it with parchment or a Teflon sheet.
- Press at 275°F for 7 seconds. Lean in with both hands. Do not slide the press around.
- Peel hot, low and slow from a corner. If an edge lifts, lay it down and press 2–3 more seconds.
- Finish press for 5 seconds under parchment over the whole design.

How big a DTF print can an EasyPress handle?
An EasyPress handles a DTF print up to about 9″ wide in one press. For bigger prints, press in overlapping sections so every part gets the full 7 seconds.
| One press? | How to press it | |
|---|---|---|
| Left chest, 3.5–4″ | Yes | One press |
| Toddler or youth, 5–9″ | Yes, on a 9″ × 9″ or larger plate | One press |
| Adult front, 10–12″ | No on a 9″ plate | Two overlapping passes, 7 s each |
| Full back, 12–14″ | No | Three or four passes; a heat press is better |
Keep a printed copy of our pressing instructions next to your EasyPress, and pick sizes that fit your plate from the DTF transfer size chart.
Why is my DTF transfer not sticking with an EasyPress?
A DTF transfer usually fails to stick with an EasyPress because of low pressure, a soft surface or a short press. Fix those three first.
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Edges lift with the film | Not enough pressure | Use a table, lean in with both hands |
| Center sticks, edges don't | Print wider than the plate | Overlapping passes |
| Peels after washing | No finish press, or washed too soon | Finish press 5 s; wait 24 hours |
| Shiny or stiff print | Too hot or too long | 275°F and 7 s, never above 300°F |

Frequently asked questions about the Cricut EasyPress and DTF
Can you use a Cricut EasyPress Mini for DTF?
Yes, for very small prints such as hat logos, pockets and sleeves. Press firmly in small sections.
What temperature do you use on an EasyPress for DTF?
275°F for 7 seconds, then a 5-second finish press. Never go above 300°F.
Do you need a heat press for DTF transfers?
No, but it helps. An EasyPress works for small and medium prints; a heat press gives more even pressure for full fronts and backs.
Can I use an ironing board with an EasyPress?
It is not recommended. Ironing boards flex, which lowers pressure. Use a pressing mat on a sturdy table.
Can I use a Cricut machine to cut DTF transfers?
You don't need to. DTF transfers are printed with only the design on the film, so you just trim the film around it with scissors.
